Pa'i'ai by: Cody
I think making pa'i'ai was fun and challenging. I also think that it was hard work. But it paid off because it tasted really good! I really liked eating my pa'i'ai. My favorite part was pounding the taro.
Pa'i'ai by: Liz
When we went to make Pa'i'ai we made the food that Hawaiians ate a long time ago. The food smelled like sweet potato. We seperated into grounds and I started peeling my taro. The peeling was not hard but it was also not very easy. It took a long time. The weather was so hot so it made everything harder. I was the last one left. When we were done, we pounded the taro and made it into pa'i'ai, it reminded me of peanut butter. Pounding was hard too. Some of the kumus helped me to pound my taro. I had time left so I got to pound two, I got all sweaty but it was really fun!
Kanewai Lo'i by: Cody
I think I liked going on the short walk when we were at the lo'i. I also liked stepping in the mud. I also thought it was cool to watch the kalo grow. I really enjoyed going in the stream even if I fell in.

At Kanewai Lo'i the kumu taught us about the ancient Hawaiians inside the traditional house. The house was cool, it was made from grass and wood. It looked very hard to make. We went inside the mud and stepped on the grass and leaves. Some kid said that there was a frog and everyone screamed. I almost fell inside. I pulled out weeds and stepped on flowers and leaves. It was a fun and exciting trip.
